Store Strength exists to help Shopify merchants who want to turn their store into a business that will stand the test of time and serve their customers for years to come.
I don't believe in magic bullets. I don't believe that guesswork and chance are a good way to build a business. I believe that the best businesses are the ones that deeply know and understand their customers. They build relationships with their audience, they create awesome products, and they care about the people they serve.
That's exactly what I help my clients to achieve. I work with Shopify merchants to take their ideas and their existing stores to the next level when it comes to sales and revenue generation.
Clients come to me with a problem
Often, businesses have problems. They know they need to fix the problem, but they don't always know how. They don't know what causes their problems, or how to even begin to solve them. These are the biggest problems I help clients with:
• They're making money, but they want to make more
Knowing how to expand and grow is not intuitive. Doing the things that got you where you are may not take you further. I help Shopify stores create and execute strategies that let them pursue more sales and higher profits. Working together, we bypass the nonsense and build lasting, long-term success.
• They want to improve their site and it's ability to sell
For Shopify merchants, the website is the business. In order to thrive and grow, you need a site that sells. The best way to do that is a research-driven, customer-focused process that makes your site better every day.
• They want to build long lasting, profitable relationships
Stores that last, the ones that keep making money, know that customers should never be one-and-done. Creating life-long brand advocates that keep buying and spread your message is the best way to make sure you are around in 5-10-20 years.
And I help them move beyond those problems to a better tomorrow
The biggest advantage I have is distance. Unlike the people in the business, who go head-to-head with overwhelming, frustrating problems every day, I get to step back and see the forest- in spite of all the trees.
When I hear about the problems my client's experience, I sniff out the cause like Sherlock Holmes and deal with it like Tywin Lannister.
What does success look like for Store Strength clients?
The outcome is what matters. You can always increase revenue by spending more on ads or working longer hours marketing your products. But who wants to keep playing that game for years?
My clients want more sales and higher profits, but more importantly, they want their business to let them live. They want the freedom and the time that owning a successful and sustainable business brings. That's what I help them achieve.
In 2013, I was 25 and looking for a way out of a job that I hated.
And I mean that. I really, really hated my job. I pretty much made trash for a living. On night shift.
Like a lot of people, I started with the 4-Hour Work Week and YouTube videos. I bought stuff at local stores and re-sold it on Amazon for higher prices. Retail arbitrage.
I wanted to get rich quick.
Then I got a reality check.
I was on the phone with someone who had a real business. I wanted to buy his product at wholesale rates so that I could be his Amazon distributor, and he asked me some questions that impacted the rest of my life.
"What else are you going to do? How are you going to market this in a way that adds value? Why should I let you do this instead of just listing it myself?"
I didn't have any clue how to do what he was talking about, but I knew I could figure it out. I've always been willing to do whatever it takes to do something the right way.
So, I started studying
First was copywriting. I bought books and courses, and taught myself how to write persuasive sales copy. I became a keyboard for hire who wrote what I was told.
Next came marketing strategy, eCommerce business models, web design, content marketing, CRO and analytics. My bookshelf grew into several shelves. My paycheck went into courses and mentoring.
Finally I realized that I could offer a lot more value to my clients if I stood up and helped them uncover and solve the problems that held them back, instead of just being an extra pair of hands.
Why not run a store of my own?
I work with Shopify stores to grow their own profits. I've been asked before why I don't sell products myself instead of helping other people make more money.
Honestly, coming up with and designing product ideas is not what I am good at. Which is fine with me, because I love helping others take control of their lives and their own path to success.
My talent lies in helping people who create products turn those products into strong, profitable sustainable businesses.
Because anyone who creates awesome products that people love should be rewarded with big, fat paychecks. They deserve to be able to spend their time doing the things they love.
Outside of work
I live in gorgeous Southern Kentucky and enjoy hiking and kayaking with my wife. I enjoy strength sports and train 3 days a week.
I'm also an avid reader, lover of old comedy and murder-mystery movies, and enjoy good cocktail recipes. If you've got any good ones, I'd love to try them out. Gin, mezcal, and Campari recipes are particularly welcome.
You can find me on social media through the links in the sites footer. I have no idea why you would want to, but you can.
